Prepare to be inspired! In this episode, your hosts Tiffany and Ashlee, sit down with Quintavius “Q” Burdette, the #2 RE/MAX Agent in the US. They talk about the passion, hard work, and day-to-day strategy that have brought him so much success.

  1. How Q structures his day

  • The Point System: Try to get 4 points per day. Assign points to different tasks or objectives you have, and make sure you hit that target every day.

  • If you hit more than 4 points, that’s great, but your points don’t roll over to the next day! Be ready and excited to do it all again when you go into the office. Don’t burn yourself out by trying to overwork on any given day.

  1. How Q stays motivated

  • Set goals, achieve them, and create more challenging ones that take you in your chosen direction.

  • His goals are about more than just making himself happy. He wants to set an example for others as someone who came into the business and did the work so new and experienced agents see that they can do it, too.

  1. How to successfully cold call and door-knock

  • Q’s 5-step process for cold calling: 1. Get to know who you’re speaking to. 2. Introduce yourself. 3. Give them back their time. 4. Neutralize the conversation. 5. Get to the point.

  • The door-knocking process is the same but without step 1. 

  1. Advice for new agents

  • Cut out negative thoughts. Don’t let yourself get too hung up on how many deals you close or whether everything goes perfectly your way. Stay focused on what YOU do. Be proud of that.

  • “The market will go up, and the market will go down. You just have to stay around.” There are many things in the business that you can’t control, but if you stay on top of the things you can control (your daily activities, mindset, and effort), you will be successful.

“A lot of folks look over the time spent – they just look at the deal. They’re so ‘excited for Q because Q got a big deal.’ No, I want you to be excited because I showed up every day and got after it. And I didn’t quit, I didn’t stop when that happened. Even when that deal was signed, sealed, and closed, and I knew it was going to happen, I came to work the very next day like I had nothing.” – Quintavius Burdette.

“There is nothing else really going on in this business that you can control other than your effort every single day. You cannot control interest rates; you cannot control when somebody’s going to call you to sell a house or buy a house; you can not control when the buyer is going to want to put in an offer; you can’t control what offer they’re going to want to put in, BUT – what you can control is your activities every single day, day in and day out. And if you were to focus on that more than you focused on the outcome of ‘I don’t have any closings,’ then I think you would start to see true success.” – Quintavius Burdette.
