Mastering Real Estate Seminars: Expert Tips from Cate Waggonner-Lee

Hosting an engaging seminar isn’t a walk in the park - we should know! Keeping an audience engaged can be challenging, but as real estate agents, it's our job to educate our clients and the community about our world. We had an amazing conversation with Cate Waggonner-Lee, a seasoned real estate agent and coach, on how to host a real estate seminar that fosters genuine connections. She shared TONS of insights, and while we can't fit them all into one blog, we're excited to share some key takeaways! (For the full interview, check out Realestatable Episode 33).
- Choose Your Audience. Cate highlights the need to know your seminar attendees. Customize your real estate seminar content for specific groups, like first-time homebuyers or military families, to make your presentations more relevant and engaging.
- Location Matters. The venue for your seminar plays a big role in its success. Cate recommends a cozy coffee shop near an apartment complex for seminars aimed at first-time buyers, creating an informal setting that promotes genuine interaction. A smaller seminar size of 5-10 people is ideal for personal engagement and answering specific questions.
- Get the Word Out! Begin promoting your real estate seminar three weeks ahead. While social media is an excellent starting point, also consider distributing flyers at the seminar location and nearby areas where your target audience might be. Engaging with other industry professionals, not just agents, can broaden your reach. Collaboration can lead to shared promotion efforts and even shared marketing expenses.
- Prepare, Prepare, PREPARE. Practice your presentation at home, even if it's just in front of a pet. This helps smooth out any issues and improves your delivery. Recording your practice sessions or actual seminars can provide valuable feedback for future improvements.
- Follow Up is Key. Making a personal connection with each seminar attendee is essential, regardless of their level of engagement during the event. By the seminar's end, position yourself as a knowledgeable real estate resource they can turn to when they're ready to make a move. Building this relationship is crucial.
Real estate seminars are an effective marketing tool when done correctly. We can’t wait to apply Cate’s strategies to our seminar planning for 2024! For more information about hosting impactful real estate seminars, check out Episode 33 of Realestatable with Cate Waggonner-Lee.
